AMEC's policy approach
We understand and respect the right of publishers and broadcasters as they are challenged to find substitutional, as well as new revenue in the digital marketplace. Our policy on behalf of members is to be acknowledged as the “voice of the industry” in discussions with publisher groups.
We support creating a model for content licensing but believe the model must be built and tailored for particular geographic regions. AMEC cannot be the global negotiating body on content licensing. Instead we believe that negotiations must be handled on a country by country basis. AMEC is not the enemy of publishers. What we seek in discussions, is consistency and fairness in fee charges and the way they are proposed to be applied. Our aim on behalf of members to is encourage the setting up of mutually beneficial content licensing agreements - reasonably priced, easy to understand, and administratively simple. We resist exclusive content agreements in all markets.
