Scandinavia: a report by Sebastian Nielsen, Chief Marketing Officer of Infopaq.

There is no central publisher's body in Scandinavia, meaning that companies like Infopaq have to negotiate individually with several hundred publisher/media houses. It is a time consuming process which is made more complicated as there are different models for royalty and revenue splits are asked for which makes the negotiating process even more difficult and time consuming e. Some media houses are very dominating and tend to favour only one market player. This tends to affect the competition in a very negative way and in the long run the customers will get a less effective and less price attractive service. In Sweden, in particular, the journalists union is very strong and each media house has to establish a local agreement with the local union at each publisher. This means that some publishers are not able to enter into a contract. The transition process of turning today's analogue process into digital has been and is very slow .
